How do I sign in?
There is no password to remember. On your own phone or computer: tap Use my face or fingerprint, or type your 6-digit PIN, and you are in, like a banking app. The first time on a device: type your email or username, then the 6-digit code we email you, then your PIN. We then ask Is this your own phone or computer? Choose Yes, it is mine, and from then on that device needs only your PIN. On a shared computer, choose No, it is shared. If you made your account with a password before 27 September 2026, it still works: press Sign in with a password.
Can I sign in with my face or fingerprint?
Yes, on a phone or computer you have approved, if it has Face ID, a fingerprint reader or Windows Hello. After you sign in with your PIN, we ask Sign in faster next time? Press Turn on face or fingerprint and follow your device. You can also turn it on or off in My profile, under Your devices. Your face or fingerprint stays on your device: FirstClick never sees it or keeps it. Your PIN keeps working too, in case the sensor does not. It is free.
Can I sign in on my computer using my phone?
Yes, with no password. On the computer, press Sign in with my phone. A square code and a 2-digit number appear. Open your phone's camera, point it at the square and tap the link. On your phone, pick the same number, type your PIN and press Approve. The computer signs in by itself. Only ever scan a code that is on your own screen: FirstClick will never send you a code to scan.
What does the bar above the sign-in box mean?
It shows how far along you are. Signing in on a new phone or computer has three steps: 1 type your email address or username and press Send my sign-in code; 2 type the 6-digit code we email you and press Check my code; 3 type your 6-digit PIN. The main button also tells you what comes next. On a phone or computer you have approved, you only type your PIN: the bar shows Last step, and you press Sign in to FirstClick.
The tabs (My dashboard, Lessons, Help) are the same on every page?
Yes. When you are signed in, the same row of tabs is under the top bar on My dashboard, Lessons, Certificates, the AI Scam Checker (when it is switched on for you) and Help, with Back and Forward on the right. It stays on screen while you scroll.
The Send my sign-in code button is grey, or I typed my email and no code came
The button may stay grey for a second or two while a security check from Cloudflare runs in the background. Most people never see it. If something looks unusual, a box appears and asks you to tick it; then press the button. If no code arrives within two minutes, check your Junk or Spam folder. If you do not have a FirstClick account yet, we email you a note with a Create my account button instead of a code.
The sign-up email has a code and a button. Which do I use?
Either one. Type the 6-digit code on the Check your email screen, or press Confirm my email in the email and then press Confirm my email once more on the page that opens. If you started on a computer and pressed the button on your phone, the computer moves on to the next step by itself. The code and the button work for 10 minutes. If you did not start creating an account, ignore the email: nothing happens.
A box asked "Are you still there?" What is that?
For your safety, we sign you out after 10 minutes without any activity, in case you walked away from the computer. After 5 minutes, a box asks Are you still there? and counts down the time left. Press Yes, I am still here, or simply move the mouse or touch the screen, and you carry on. Reading, scrolling and watching a lesson video all count as activity. If you are signed out, your progress is saved; sign in again to carry on. Done for now? Press Sign me out now.
Why was I signed out when I went to the home page?
For your safety. When you are signed in and click a link that leaves your learning area (such as Home, Our story or Courses), we ask first: Yes, sign me out and continue, or Cancel, stay here. If you leave another way, such as with the Back button, you are signed out when the website page opens. This way nobody who uses the computer after you can get into your account, which matters most on a shared or public computer. Your progress is always saved. Want to look around the website and stay signed in? Open it in a new tab: right-click the link and choose Open link in new tab. Your lessons, Certificates, AI Scam Checker and Help all count as your learning area.
I started creating an account but did not finish. What now?
Nothing is lost. Your account is only created once you have confirmed your email (with the code or the Confirm my email button) and chosen your 6-digit PIN. Until then, you can start again on Create my account with the same email address, or go to Sign in and type your email: we will email you a code and you can choose your PIN there to finish. If you do not finish within 7 days, we delete what you typed, and you can start again any time.
Where are the AI helpers?
When you are signed in, you will find AI Scam Checker in the row of tabs under the top bar (next to Certificates). Paste a text, WhatsApp message or email you are not sure about, and the AI helper points out the warning signs. It never says a message is safe. On every lesson screen, Stuck? Ask about this lesson lets you ask a question about that lesson. Both are for adult learners and are switched off on student accounts. What you type is not kept. The Back and Forward buttons at the right of the same row take you to the page before, or forward again.
Can I ask about money, health or the law?
Not yet. We are preparing a service where a qualified person, such as a nurse, attorney or financial professional, answers questions like these. When it opens, you will find Ask a qualified person on your learning page. Every answer will be checked and approved by that person before you see it, and will show who reviewed it. Until then, our lessons give general guidance only, and are not legal, financial or medical advice. In an emergency, call 110 for an ambulance or 119 for the police. See section 8 of our terms.
Can children or students under 18 use FirstClick?
Yes, through their school. FirstClick is for adults and for students. Adults, 18 or older, create their own accounts. Students under 18 use FirstClick through their school's FirstClick Student Program, after a parent or legal guardian signs the Parent or Guardian Consent Form. Student accounts are set up with the school, cost nothing, receive no marketing and cannot use the AI helpers. A parent can withdraw consent at any time. Details are in section 14 of our terms and our privacy notice.
What are the AI helpers, and is my information safe?
When you are signed in, you can use three helpers. Is this a scam? (on your learning page, and on the Scam alerts page): paste a message you are not sure about, and it points out the warning signs. It never tells you a message is safe, so always check with the company yourself. Stuck? Ask about this lesson (under each lesson screen): ask a question, and it answers from that lesson only. The Help assistant (on this Help page, under the search box): ask in your own words, and it answers from this Help page only. All three are answered by an AI and can be wrong. We remove long numbers and links before a message is sent (a link becomes just the website name, so it cannot be clicked by mistake), we do not send your name or email, and we do not keep what you typed. You can use each helper up to 20 times a day. Details are in our privacy notice.
My company has old computers. Can we give them to a school?
Yes, and thank you. On the Community page, under Your retired computers can build Jamaica's next workforce, fill in the short form. We accept laptops and desktops with an Intel Core i3, i5, i7 or i9, 9th generation or newer, or AMD Ryzen 3000 or newer. Our team replies within seven business days. We can wipe and reset every computer for you and confirm it in writing, or guide your team through it. The full arrangement is in section 13 of our terms; we keep your details for two years after your offer was last updated (privacy notice); how donated computers are wiped is on our security page.
Can I get tips and news of new courses by email?
Yes, if you want them. On your learning page we ask once: tick "Did you know" tips, New short courses, or neither. You can change this any time in My profile, under Emails from FirstClick, and every one of these emails has an Unsubscribe link. Sign-in codes and receipts still come either way.
When I choose my PIN, how do I type it the second time?
Type your 6 digits in the first row; the page moves you to the second row by itself, where you type the same 6 digits again. You can also tap the second row. Save my PIN only works once both rows have the same 6 digits.
I forgot my PIN
On the sign-in page, press Forgot your PIN? We email you a code. Type it in, then choose a new 6-digit PIN. It works straight away on all your approved devices.
How do I see or remove my approved devices?
Go to My profile, then Password & PIN, and look under Your devices. Press Remove beside any phone or computer you no longer use. We email you whenever a new device is approved, so you would know if it was not you.
Do I have to set up the authenticator app?
No. Your account is protected by your PIN and your email: a new phone or computer needs both the code we email you and your PIN. The authenticator app is an optional extra, mainly for people who sign in with a password. If you want it, go to My profile and choose add an authenticator app. Take the short lesson first, then set it up, from a computer if you can: the computer shows a square code, and your phone only downloads the free app and scans it.
How do I choose a username?
After your first sign-in, the learning page asks you to choose one. You can then sign in with your username or your email address, whichever is easier. If you skip it, the reminder stays on your learning page and under the bell.
My code did not arrive
Wait a minute, then check your junk or spam folder. You can ask for a new code on the same screen.
I lost my phone
On any computer, sign in with your email or username, the code we email you and your PIN. Then go to My profile, Your devices, and press Remove beside the lost phone, so its PIN and face or fingerprint sign-in stop working. If you cannot sign in at all, contact us and we will remove all your devices for you. Your PIN on its own never works on a new device.
I forgot my password
Use "I forgot my password" on the sign-in page. We send a code to your email so you can set a new one.
I am a student. How do I sign in?
Students join through their school. The first time, your teacher gives your class a class code (it looks like ABC-123). With your teacher beside you, open Student sign up, type the code, your name, choose your age group (8 to 11, or 12 to 17), then choose a username and a PIN that is easy for you to remember: 4 numbers if you are 8 to 11, or 6 numbers if you are 12 to 17. Type it twice to confirm. Do not share your PIN with anyone. After that, sign in on Student sign in: type the class code and your username, press Next, then type your PIN. If your teacher added you, they tell you your username, and the first time you sign in you choose your PIN. The lesson about authenticator apps is optional for students, because it needs a phone of your own; you can look at it from the card on the Computer Skills, Beginner page. You do not need an email address, and there is nothing to pay. Students see pictures made for their age group, and only their own lessons, certificates and Help. Schools and parents can read more on For schools.
I am a student and I forgot my PIN, or I am locked out
Ask your teacher. On their teacher page they can unlock your account straight away, or reset your account. After a reset, sign in with the class code and your username, and you are asked to choose a new PIN and type it twice. Never tell your PIN to a friend. If you forgot your username, your teacher can see it too.
I am a teacher. How do I manage my class?
When your school joins the Student Program, your school lead (or FirstClick) adds you using your email address and we email you a link. Sign in, or create a free FirstClick account with that same email address, and open My classes in your tabs. At the top, a dashboard shows how many students you have, who signed in this week, who finished a course and who needs help, with graphs of progress by level; click any tile or bar to see the students behind it. You make a class (each class gets a code) and print the one-page join sheet. + Add students lets you type a whole class, 10 rows at a time (+ Add 10 more rows); usernames are made for you, and each student chooses their own PIN the first time they sign in. Under Help next to each student you can unlock the account, reset it (they choose a new PIN), pause or resume, change the age group, move them to another of your classes, fix their name, or terminate them (they can no longer sign in; their progress and activity log are kept, and you can restore them). Reset all accounts resets a whole class, for example at the start of a term. When a student finishes a course, you get a notice on the bell. Your school lead sees every class and adds or removes teachers. Before any class code works, the school lead confirms once, for the school, that a parent or guardian signs the consent form for each student before they sign up.
Can I ask the Help page a question in my own words?
Yes. When you are signed in, the Help assistant box sits under the search box at the top of this page. Type your question, for example “how do I take the portal tour again?”, and press Ask. The answer is written by an AI using this Help page only, so it can be wrong; check anything important with us on the Contact page. Do not type passwords, PINs or codes. We do not keep what you type. The search box works for everyone, signed in or not.
What is FirstClick’s mission?
Our mission: to give people across Jamaica and the Caribbean the everyday phone, computer and online-safety skills they need, taught in plain English, at their own pace and at a price that leaves no one behind, so they can use technology with confidence. Our vision: a Caribbean where everyone, whatever their age, income or experience, can use technology safely, and no one is held back, shut out or scammed because of it. Read more on Our story.
How do I find my way around my learning page?
Take Get to know your portal: a two-minute guided look at My dashboard. It points to each part of the page (your tabs, Back and Forward, Easier to read, the bell and your account menu) and says what it does. New accounts are offered it the first time they open My dashboard. To take it again at any time, open your account menu (your name, top right) and choose Get to know your portal, or start the tour now (you will be asked to sign in first if you are not signed in). Press Close the tour or the Esc key to stop it whenever you like.
Can I pay for a level before I register?
Yes. On the Courses page, open Show what is inside under any level and press Get this level. If you are not registered yet, registration (J$3,500, once) is added and both are paid together; for example Computer Skills, Intermediate comes to J$11,000. If you are already registered, you pay only for the level. The same box has Pay for someone and Give it as a gift, and Pay for someone and Give a gift are also at the bottom of every page, under Learn.
Can someone else pay for me?
Yes, in two ways. They can do it themselves: on our Pay for someone page they type your FirstClick account number (it starts with LAG- and is on your My learning page) and the email address on your account; both must match. Or you send them a link: Yes. When you register or buy a level, press Send someone a payment link, then Make my payment link. Send the link by WhatsApp, email or text to a family member or friend, here or overseas. They open it, pay by card or with PayPal (they do not need a FirstClick account), and your course opens straight away; we email you when it is paid. They see only your first name, the first letter of your last name, the course and the amount. A link works once, for 14 days, and making a new one cancels the old one.
How do I give FirstClick as a gift?
Open Give a gift (also on the Courses page and on My learning). Choose what to give: Registration is the best start for someone new, and a course level includes registration automatically (for example Computer Skills, Intermediate is J$11,000: J$7,500 for the level and J$3,500 for registration). If you know they already have a FirstClick account, tick the box to leave out the registration. Then type their name, choose whether we email it to them or to you to hand over, add a short message if you like, then pay through PayPal by card or PayPal account. As soon as the payment goes through, we email a gift certificate with their code, and you get a copy and a receipt. You do not need a FirstClick account to give a gift. We email you again when the gift is used.
How do I use a gift code?
Press Use my gift in your gift email, or open Use your gift and type the code (GIFT-XXXX-XXXX). If you are new, create your account; the gift is applied at the last step, so there is nothing to pay for a gift that includes registration. If you already have an account, sign in and press Use my gift on my account; if you are already registered, a gift with registration and a level opens the level. A gift for a level alone needs registration first; the code stays valid for 12 months.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
Only by arrangement, for example for a company paying for its staff. Contact us first. If we agree, we send the bank details privately, through a link that expires. We will never send you bank details you did not ask for, or different bank details by email, text or phone. If anyone does, do not pay.
My payment was declined
No money is taken when a payment is declined. Try again, or choose another way to pay.
Someone asked me for my code
Never share it. We will never ask you for a code, a password or your PIN, by any means, and we will never send you a code to scan.
What is the bell at the top of the page?
The gold bell shows your notifications. When something is waiting for you, it fills in gold and rings now and then (it stays still if your phone or computer is set to reduce motion). It shows a reminder if three days pass without a lesson, and a message when a lesson you asked for is ready (if you ticked Let me know when this lesson is ready while signed in). A number on the bell means something new. Tap it to read. Notifications are kept for 90 days.
Can I make the site dark, or light?
Yes. At the bottom of every page (and, when you are signed in, in the Easier to read bar at the top of My dashboard), under Appearance, choose Light, Dark or System. System follows the setting on your phone or computer, and changes by itself if your phone switches to dark at night. Your choice is remembered on that device only, so set it again on another phone or computer.
Can I make the writing bigger, or easier to see?
Yes. When you are signed in, the Easier to read bar is at the top of My dashboard, under your tabs. The choice you have made is shown in blue with a gold line under it. Your choice then applies on every page, including the lessons. Under Text size, choose A (normal), A+ (larger) or A++ (largest). Turn the High contrast switch on for black writing on a plain white background, with darker lines round every box. Appearance switches between Light, Dark and System, the same choice as at the bottom of every page. Your choice is remembered on that phone or computer only, so set it again on another one. When the writing is large, the menu at the top folds into the Menu button, so nothing runs off the screen.
Where do I see my next lesson?
On My learning (your dashboard). The white Next lesson box names the lesson and how long it takes; press the gold Start this lesson button. Below it, Your courses, in order shows every course with a progress bar, and says in words why a course is locked. Inside a lesson, the website menu steps aside so the lesson has the whole screen. The lesson’s name is shown at the top of every step and quiz question. The bar at the top of the screen shows how far you are and has an Exit lesson button, which takes you back to the list of lessons. The list on the left shows every lesson in that course: Done, You are here, or why it is locked; press Hide list for a wider page. On a phone, press Lessons at the top to open the list. Back and Next stay at the bottom of the screen. When you finish the quiz, the Up next box under your score opens the next lesson, and you can repeat the quiz or the whole lesson.
How do I choose a course and level on the Lessons page?
At the top of the Lessons page, each course has its own box: Computer Skills and AI, Scams and Online Safety. Inside each box, the three levels run from Beginner down to Advanced, each with a small picture and a line on what it covers. Tap a level to see its lessons. The one you are on is shaded. "Free" marks the free lesson, "Open" means the level is part of your account, and a padlock means it is locked.
Why does it ask if this is my own phone or computer?
So your own device can sign you in with just your PIN. It asks once on each phone or computer, after you sign in with your email, the emailed code and your PIN. Press Yes, it is mine and the next time you only type your PIN. If it keeps asking, your browser may be set to delete cookies when it closes (company computers and private windows often do this). Using Not you? Sign in with another account no longer removes the approval. You can see and remove approved devices in My profile, under Your devices.
How do I get my certificate?
Pass every lesson in the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels of one course, with registration and all three levels paid for. When you pass the last quiz of the Advanced level, the lesson screen congratulates you and builds your certificate there and then, with a short progress bar, and shows you a preview. The certificate itself is kept in your portal under My certificates: open it there and choose Print, or Save as PDF to keep your own copy on your phone or computer. Each certificate has a certificate number starting with VC-; an employer or school can enter it on our Check a certificate page to confirm it is genuine. Finishing the Beginner or Intermediate level on its own does not earn a certificate; the lesson screen points you to the next level instead. Free access from a course code does not earn a certificate, but the lessons you pass during it still count once you have paid.
Can I change my name?
Your name appears on your certificate, so it can only be corrected by contacting us. This stops certificates being issued in the wrong name.
I typed my password wrong too many times and cannot sign in
To protect your account from guessing, sign-in pauses after 8 wrong passwords in 15 minutes. The message on screen tells you how long is left: 15 minutes the first time, then 30, then 60. The fourth time, the account is locked until you reset your password. After two or three wrong tries, stop guessing and use I forgot my password instead. It takes about three minutes.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in page, press I forgot my password. Type the email address on your account, and we send you a six-digit code; check your Junk folder if you do not see it within a minute or two. Type the code, then choose your new password twice. A reset also lifts any sign-in pause. Nobody at FirstClick can see or set your password, so anyone who offers to is not from us.
What are the rules on respectful use?
Your name, your username, and anything you send us through the contact or Suggest a lesson forms must not contain abusive, hateful or sexual language, threats, scam links, requests for someone’s codes, passwords or card details, or anything that pretends to come from FirstClick. These are checked automatically on our own server, and a person on our team looks at anything marked before anything happens. The first time, we send a friendly written warning. A second time within 12 months pauses the account for 7 days, and it then opens again by itself. If you think we got it wrong, reply to our email and a person will look at it. The full rules are in sections 5 and 7 of our terms.
Why is my certificate waiting for a name check?
Every name is checked when an account is made. Sometimes a real name looks like a word our check does not allow, or like the name of a staff role. When that happens, we hold the certificate and email you to confirm your name exactly as it appears on your identification. Your lessons and progress are not affected, and the certificate is issued as soon as the name is confirmed.
Can the lessons be read aloud to me?
Yes, where a recording is ready. At the top of a lesson, and on the home page quiz, choose Listen instead of Read. Each page, quiz question and answer is then read aloud as you go, and Play again repeats it. While the voice reads a lesson, the part being read has a soft beige background, so you can follow along. Your choice is remembered on that phone or computer. The recordings are small, so they work on a weak signal, and nothing plays until you choose Listen. When you open a page, the voice waits until you tap something (an answer, Next, or Play), so a page never starts talking by itself.
Can I see what a lesson looks like before I pay?
Yes, in two ways. On How it works, tap any lesson under Some of what you will learn to peek inside: what you will be able to do, three real steps with pictures, a real example and a question to try. On Courses, each level has a See a sample lesson button. You can also take a whole free lesson.
How do I move through a lesson?
At the bottom of each lesson, tap Next › to go on and ‹ Back to go back; the step you are on is shown between them. On a quiz, choose an answer first and Next lights up. On a computer you can also use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard.
Can I see a picture of a step?
On some lessons, yes. Under a step that has a picture you will see a small See the picture button. Tap it to open the picture, use Back and Next to see the lesson’s other pictures, then tap Close to carry on exactly where you were. Lessons without pictures do not show the button, and more pictures are being added.
Does the code fill itself in?
Often, yes. When a 6-digit code arrives by text message, most iPhones and Android phones show it just above the keyboard: tap it and all six boxes fill in. On an iPhone, a code that arrives in the Apple Mail app can be offered the same way. If your phone does not offer it, type the code yourself, or copy it and paste it into the first box. We will never ask you to read a code out to anyone.
Can I use a tablet or computer, not just a phone?
Yes. FirstClick works on a phone, a tablet or a computer, in an up-to-date web browser. Your progress is saved to your account, not to the device, so you can start on one and carry on from another: sign in and pick up where you left off. The first time on a new device, we email you a sign-in code.
My phone is not with me. How do I sign in?
On a computer you have approved, just type your PIN. On any other device, type your email or username, then the code we email you, then your PIN. Only your email needs to be open: your phone is not needed.
Where do I change my picture, password, PIN, email or phone?
Tap your name and picture at the top right of the page (on a phone, open Menu first). A panel opens with My profile, Change photo, Password, PIN, Email and Phone, plus Sign out. Each one takes you straight to the right part of My profile.
What is my PIN, and where do I change it?
Six digits you choose when you create your account. It is how you sign in: on phones and computers you have approved, it is all you need; on a new device, you type it after the code we email you. It never works on its own on a new device. Change it on My profile, under Password & PIN (you will need your current PIN), or use Forgot your PIN? to choose a new one with an emailed code. Five wrong PINs on a device removes that device's approval. Five wrong PINs after an emailed code pauses PIN sign-in on new devices for an hour, and we email you. If you set a recovery PIN before 27 September 2026, it keeps working until you choose a 6-digit PIN.
What does "awarded for testing" on a certificate mean?
Before launch, a small group tested every lesson and quiz of a course, again and again, to make sure it works. FirstClick awarded some of them a certificate for that work. It is genuine, and the public check confirms it. It says it was awarded for testing, so it is never mistaken for passing the lessons.
Can I delete my account and my information?
Yes, yourself, at any time. My profile, then Delete my account and personal data. You confirm with your password (or your PIN, if you have no password) and the code from your app if you use one, and we email you afterwards listing what was deleted. Your name, email, mobile number, progress and course access are erased for good, including levels you paid for. Payment records are kept without your name or contact details, because tax law requires it, and encrypted backups expire within 90 days. Refunds are not given for deleted accounts. If you only want a break, simply stop signing in; your place is kept.
Can two people share an email address or mobile number?
No. Each account needs its own email address and its own mobile number, because sign-in codes and alerts are sent to them. Your identification number is also checked, so one person cannot hold two accounts. If a number needs moving from an old account to a new one, contact us and we will help after checking who you are.
What each box on the forms means
Full name
As it will appear on your certificate. You cannot change it yourself afterwards.
Username
A short name for signing in, such as tanisha.b. Other learners never see it.
Email address
Where we send your codes and receipts. Use one you can open yourself.
Password
Optional. New accounts do not have one: you sign in with your PIN. You can add one in My profile. At least 10 characters with a letter and a number.
6-digit code
A one-time number sent to your email or shown in your authenticator app. It expires quickly.
PIN
Six digits you choose. On your approved phones and computers, it is all you need to sign in.
Course code
A code from an employer, church, school or family member that pays for your course.
Certificate number
Printed on your certificate, starting with VC. An employer types it, or scans the code beside it, on Check a certificate to confirm it is real. You can switch checking off and on from My certificates.
Still stuck?
Email and WhatsApp contact appear on every confirmation we send you.
— Tell us what to teach
Cannot find what you need?
Tell us what you want to learn. Many of our lessons start with a question from a learner, and we will let you know when yours is ready.
— When the site is available
Online, at any hour
Online services exist so you can do things when it suits you: early in the morning, late at night, on a weekend or on a public holiday. That is the point of doing it online, and it is how we intend this site to work.
We plan for FirstClick to be open every day, around the clock. When we have to take it down for maintenance, we will:
- Tell you beforehand on this page, and by email where it affects your account.
- Choose the quietest hours, usually late at night, when fewest people are learning.
- Keep it short, normally under two hours, and tell you when we are finished.
- Never close for a whole day or a weekend, because that is when many people finally have time to learn.
Things do go wrong sometimes, and we cannot promise the site will never be interrupted. What we can promise is that we will plan around you, keep any planned work short, and say what is happening. If the site is down and we have not told you, please let us know. Our full service commitments set out our response times.
