Setting up your home Wi-Fi properly

  1. Connect to your home Wi-Fi first. These settings only open from inside your own network.
  2. Type the address on the router sticker into a browser, often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
  3. Sign in with the admin username and password from the sticker.
  4. Open Wireless or Wi-Fi settings. Change the network name to something ordinary, not your surname.
  5. Set a password of at least 12 characters, choose WPA2 or WPA3, then Save and reconnect your devices.
Remember

Change the admin password too, and switch off WPS. The reset hole on the back undoes everything if you get stuck.
